Project Overview:

Using a phased in approach, construction of 35,000 square feet of new space including classroom, office and lab space and the renovation of approximately 80,00 square feet of existing space.

9/12/2017 - Science Complex

Pumper trucks pump concrete up to the second level of the addition as workers place the second level floor slab.



​​The Hickey Hall addition steel has been erected. The second level will provide an observation deck for students and professors to set up telescopes.​


9/7/2017 - Science Complex Topping off Ceremony

After a brief speaking program and blessing by President Brian Shanley, O.P., the final beam is raised on the Science Complex.

Members of the PC community are invited to the Providence College Science Complex construction site on Tuesday, Aug. 22 for the
traditional topping-off ceremony, during which construction personnel will place the topmost steel beam, marking an important milestone in this multi-year project. The event will take place on the walkway between the Ruane Center for the Humanities and the work site. Gates will open at 11 a.m., at which time community members are invited to sign their names to the beam. A blessing and short speaking program are scheduled for 11:30, after which the beam will be placed.

8/11/2017 - The addition at Albertus Magnus is moving along.


07/19/2017 -​​ In just over ​a day, much of the steel has been erected. Here iron workers attach cross beams and the first floor begins to take​​ shape.​


07/13/2017 - ​​Foundation walls for the Hickey Hall addition are formed and being poured​.


​The Science Complex Addition lower level slab is almost ready to be poured. The wire mesh shown will act as reinforcement within the concrete slab​.


​​​​1/6/2017 - Waterproofing of the new mechanical room is completed to keep the space water tight until Phase 1B begins this summer​.


Demo of the old mechanical room and chimney in order to make AlMag's south wall flush with existing brick.


10/24/2016 - ​Picture 1- Mechanical room roof is being prepped.  Once the room is water tight, mechanical equipment can be moved in.  Picture 2 - South foundation wall of addition.  The cut outs in the wall indicate lower level windows.

9/27/2016 - South wall of new addition is being formed. New conduit for new mechanical room is being prepared for concrete to be poured.​




8/23/2016 - Soil nailing on the Science Complex site stabilizes the steep soil slopes and allows for maximized site square footage.


​​​​8/5/2016 - Racks for temporary utility lines have been installed on south wall of Albertus.   New mechanical room construction scheduled for the Fall.

An exciting first look at the new science compex

​​7/6/2016 - Work on preparing site for construction of new mechanical room has begun.  Workers on south wall are installing racks that will hold temporary utility conduit running to the existing mechanical room until the new mechanical room is built.
