Merit-based Scholarships

All applicants (domestic and international) are automatically considered for Providence College's academic scholarships. The Committee on Scholarships determines awards based on the application for admission, and these scholarships are given to students who display outstanding academic credentials. For more information, including the different levels of scholarship, view our Merit Scholarships page. Please note that no merit scholarship covers the full cost of attendance, and that even if combined with a need-based award, funding will not exceed the cost of tuition.

Need-based Financial Assistance

Providence College is able to provide a limited amount of need-based aid to international students (non-US citizens). Need-based awards are intended to supplement the amount that a student is able to pay in order to reach the full cost of attendance. Our need-based awards can cover up to the cost of full tuition, though these cases are extremely rare. Other expenses, including room, board, travel, books, and other costs and fees, are the responsibility of the student.

International students will be considered for admission and institutional need-based financial assistance based upon a review of the academic qualifications, financial need, and availability of student aid resources. In some cases, especially for students with high financial need, we are unable to make an offer of admission if our funding will insufficient. International students who do not require financial assistance and who meet our admission requirements may be at an advantage in our admission process. For this reason, it is important to be honest when reporting the amount of money you and your family can contribute to your education. Providence College is unable to increase scholarship awards once they are allocated, and we are also unable to guarantee that we will meet 100% of a student's financial need.

Financial Aid Forms

Please note that there are two different financial forms that are required depending upon whether or not you are seeking need-based financial aid.

Students seeking consideration for need-based financial assistance are required to submit at the time of application:

  • CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE -  Students requesting need-based financial assistance are required to submit the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE and the International Student Certification of Finances at the time they apply for admission. Please note that Providence College has replaced the International Student Financial Aid Application (ISFAA) with the CSS/PROFILE application for evaluating financial need. Providence College will no longer accept the ISFAA.
  • Current bank statements (dated within three months of submission)

Students not seeking need-based financial assistance are required to submit at the time of application:

Both forms can be filled out and e-mailed to international@providence.edu at the time of application. Please be aware that we may ask for further financial documentation per U.S. government regulations at a later date should you be admitted and choose to enroll.

International students seeking additional financial assistance are also encouraged to contact local or international agencies in their home country.
